Biotech Congress-2016 offers a premier forum bridging basic research and R&D with later-stage commercialization for sustainable bio-based industrial and environmental applications. The field of genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, bioeconomy and biochemistry are merging their respective discoveries into the expanding applied field of biotechnology, and advances are occurring at a record pace. Traditional biotechnology goes back thousands of years.

This raises the question of what exactly defines Biotechnology and Bioeconomy. To this there is no real answer. Today, the application of modern genetics or other equivalent modern technology is usually seen as application of modern genetics or equivalent modern technology is usually seen as necessary for a process to count as “biotechnology”. Thus, the definition of biotechnology has become partly a matter of fashion. Therefore, to classical terms, (modern) biotechnology as resulting in a broaden manner from the merger of classical biotechnology with modern genetics, molecular biology, computer technology, bioeconomy and nanotechnology.

It’s our greatest pleasure to welcome you to the official website of 11th World Congress on Biotechnology and Biotech Industries Meet that aims at bringing together the Professors, Researchers, scientists, business giants, technocrats to provide an international forum for the dissemination of original research results, new ideas and practical development experiences which concentrate on both theory and practices. Track 1: Biotechnology in Pharmaceutical Companies

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is the science that covers all technologies required for producing, manufacturing and registration of biological drugs. Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is an increasingly important area of science and technology. It contributes in design and delivery of new therapeutic drugs, diagnostic agents for medical tests, and in gene therapy for correcting the medical symptoms of hereditary diseases. The Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is widely spread, ranging from many ethical issues to changes in healthcare practices and a significant contribution to the development of national economy. Biopharmaceuticals consists of large biological molecules which are proteins. They target the underlying mechanisms and pathways of a disease or ailment; it is a relatively young industry. They can deal with targets in humans that are not accessible with traditional medicines.

Track 10: Food Biotechnology

Food biotechnology is a process scientists use to enhance the production, nutritional value, safety, and taste of foods. It can also benefit the environment by improving crops so that they need fewer pesticides. The concept is not new: For centuries farmers have selectively bred plants to pass on desirable qualities. For example, our ancestors began by replanting only corn seeds from the highest yielding and best tasting corn they grew each year. This process selected desirable genes and fixed them by growing the seeds of the selected crop year after year. The result: the golden, deliciously sweet product we now enjoy. Modern food biotechnology is a refined version of this same process. Today, scientists obtain desired traits by adding or removing plant genes. This process is called “genetic engineering” or “recombinant DNA technology.” It yields foods that are flavorful, contain more vitamins and minerals, and absorb less fat when cooked, and gives us crops that are more resistant to pests and insects. Food biotechnology holds great promise for the future. Soon, fruits and vegetables may be made to resist drought. We may remove allergens from foods such as nuts. Scientists may develop plants that absorb nitrogen more efficiently and need less fertilizer. The benefits are nearly limitless!

Scope and Importance

From the simple facts of brewing beer and baking bread has emerged a field now known as Biotechnology. Over the ages the meaning of the word biotechnology has evolved along with our growing technical knowledge. Biotechnology began by using cultured microorganisms to create a variety of food and drinks, despite in early practitioners not even knowing the existence of microbial world. Today, biotechnology is still defined as many application of living organisms or bioprocesses to create new products. Although the underlying idea is unchanged, the use of genetic engineering and other modern scientific techniques has revolutionized the area.

The field of genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry are merging their respective discoveries into the expanding applied field of biotechnology, and advances are occurring at a record pace. Traditional biotechnology goes back thousands of years.

Modern biotechnology applies not only modern genetics but also advances in other sciences. However, there is a third revolution that is just emerging—nanotechnology. The development of techniques to visualize and manipulate atoms individually or in small clusters is opening the way to an ever-finer analysis of living systems. Nanoscale techniques are now beginning to play significant roles in many area of biotechnology.

This raises the question of what exactly defines biotechnology. Therefore, to classical terms, (modern) biotechnology as resulting in a broaden manner from the merger of classical biotechnology with modern genetics, molecular biology, computer technology, and nanotechnology.

Industrial Bio-2016 covers mostly all the allied areas of biotechnology which embraces both the basic sciences, technology and as well as its applications in research, industry and academia. This conference will promote global networking between researchers, institutions, investors, industries, policy makers and students. The conference varied topics in biotechnology like healthcare, environmental, animal, plant, marine, genetic engineering, industrial aspects, food science and bio process.

Through this conference we can get all the relevant information regarding how we can use the advances in the biotechnology for building a better tomorrow by reducing the environmental impacts.

Biotechnology in Europe

Only in March a market analysis by British researchers at the University of Cambridge had calculated a market potential of three billion euros for Europe. At present, such Crowd Investing platforms only have a market share of 6.5%, however, the growth forecasts are good. The biotech industry in Europe spends nearly $7.32 billion in R&D and $23.2 billion in revenue. Around 20% of the total marketed medicines, and as much as 50% of all drugs that are in the pipeline, are all healthcare biotech products. The European biotech industry provides employment to approximately 95,000 people. Biotechnology sector makes a substantial contribution to the fundamental EU policy objectives, such as job creation, economic growth, ageing society, public health, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Biotechnology in Germany

Germany is one of the leading global biotech players and accommodates maximum number of biotech-based companies when compared to the other EU members. The German biotech industry comprises four important segments including agricultural biotech, industrial biotech, medical biotech and service and suppliers. When the German biotech scene comes together at the Industrial Biotechnology Days 2015, one topic always creates ripples: the financing situation. This year, the news was good all around: never before had the industry generated as much revenue as in 2014.Germany has a highly innovative R&D, with a research landscape comprising 330 research institutes and 343 universities that work in cooperation with the biotech companies to help them in discovering newer and more effective products.

It was a record year. For the first time ever, the industry cracked the sales mark of €3bn in turnover generated. Compared to last year, this was an increase of 5.8%. With a total of almost 17,930, there were more employees than ever before working in the biotech industry (2013: 16950). And for the first time since 2008, spending on research and development (R&D) increased rather than decreased and is now at €954m (+ 6.2%). Investments mirrored the growth trend: around €445m was invested in German biotech companies compared to €401m the year before. Private firms raised a total of €172m in 18 rounds of financing, which marks an increase of 26% compared to 2015.
